About us

Last year as you know we ran our first ever Pumpkin patch on the farm and to say it was a steep learning curve is putting it lightly. Between poor germination rates, major slug damage and the worst pumpkin growing weather possible we were unable to grow all the pumpkins we needed. It was through collaboration with another farmer down south that we were still able to go ahead with The Patch.

This year though…… WE DID IT!!

We have grown 1000s and 1000s of pumpkins. All different shapes, sizes and colours. There are so many to choose from!

Every single pumpkin has been hand sown into seed trays, hand transplanted into the fields and harvested all by hand. We have the best wee team who have put in the hours to grow all of these fantastic pumpkins.

You can expect a wholesome, authentic and rustic pumpkin picking day out on the farm. Get the wellies on and the waterproofs and join us for some autumnal family fun. We would love to welcome you onto The Patch again this October!

Yes, there are benches to sit at in the shed beside the farm shop, seating in the picnic pods and more seating in the pop up polytunnel. Plenty of areas to sit down and enjoy food and drink purchased at the event.

The straw pit is also indoors and has been moved into the pop up polytunnel.

The Patch itself and all other activities are out in the field so wrap up warm, put on your wellies/boots and waterproofs. It is October so it’s best to expect some autumnal rainy weather.

Pumpkins can last for well over a month if they are stored properly. Once you take your pumpkin home store it in a cool, dark place, preferably outside in a shed if possible. If you bring it into a super hot house and carve it too quickly it will rot. If your pumpkin is for carving then wait until at least 5 days before Halloween to carve it so it lasts longer.

No, guests staying at the Snugs have free entry to the Patch. I will contact you prior to your stay to arrange your ticket.

Yes, we take both cash and card payments.

The Pumpkin patch and most activities are based in a real field with undulating land. There is a farm track that leads up to the top of the patch that can be used before the need to go ‘off road’. The shed with our farm shop and milk / milkshake trailer plus some benches, food and drinks stalls and the picnic pods are are all on a hard standing.

Yes, there will be Portaloos and hand washing facilities.

Yes, 1 portaloo has a changing table.

Yes, there will be a mobile food vendor catering at The Patch.

New for this year, we have our very own farm shop where you can buy cakes, drinks, sweets along with delicious produce reared here on the farm including grass fed beef, slow grown lamb and free range pork. The perfect place to pick something up for your dinner.

We also have our brand new milk & milkshake vending trailer dispensing farm fresh milk. You can expect some spooky new flavours this October.

And finally, we will have our new Hot drinks and S’mores stall serving up tea, coffee, luxury hot chocolate, marshmallows for DIY toasting around our fire pit or deluxe luxury S’mores.

With a couple of changes to The Patch setup we can now allow dogs to the event. The usual rules must apply:

  1. Dogs MUST be kept on a lead at all times.
  2. No dogs allowed in the actual pumpkin picking area or on children play areas such as bale mountain etc.
  3. Please pick up your dog’s poop and dispose of in the bins provided.
  4. If your dog is not good with crowds or other dogs then we would recommend that you do not bring them.
